Gallup Poll: Philippines vote massively for John McCain

I wasn't really intending to post on this US presidential election day but was prompted to do it by a comment that was left by one of my favourite bloggers, elay the flygirl, in a previous post "My bet: The next President of the United States of America is... (with a sad update)"

Elay said, "couldnt agree more. obama it will be. we may hate to admit it, but in a way, this too is our election. we just dont get to vote."
°
Agree with elay!

If the world could vote (hat tip The Vigil), I have no doubt nations would elect Barack Obama. He would restore the moral high ground in international politics that George Dubya flicked with no forethought nor afterthought, so despicable was he that the world has since become a huge battleground between Christian fanatics and Islamic fundamentalists where the sole rule is that might is right.

One would think that with the Philippines ranking as one of the most impoverished nations in the world, they'd be on the side of true change. But guess what? In the "If The World Could Vote" poll by Gallup, the Philippines voted massively for more of the same: John McCain.
°
Reminds me of when the Philippines 'voted' for more of the same, i.e., Gloria Macapagal, in the last RP presidential election. If it's true that she stole the election (and I have absolutely no doubt she did), the Filipinos didn't do anything about it so, in a way, it does say that 'modern' Filipinos still adhere to the a warped cultural philosophy of damn change, let's have "more of the same."

So telling of a loser mentality you say? I don't know save to say that I'm left gobsmacked...

BBC world survey in Sept:The Philippine result showed Obama trouncing McCain, with the former getting 46% and the latter obtaining 22% of the survey votes.

Let me venture a guess on why Filipinos favor McCain that is before EQ's update, lol........ they are a bunch of self-flagellants so fixated on the abortion issue.

PO,

I think you are right! It's all about the abortion thing...

Geez! I'm a Catholic but I believe that the issue is between the woman and her God and has nothing to do with Obama!

John, Iraq never voted to become I-Wreck. The never had a say in volunteering to become the flypaper in Bush's GWOT. That's the whole point. The whole point.
